Omaha Loves Jazz Museum & Art Center
The Loves Jazz and Arts Center was named after musician Preston Love and is located at 2510 North 24th Street in Omaha Nebraska within the historic African American business community. He became renowned as a professional sideman and saxophone balladeer in the heyday of the big band era. He was a member of the Count Basie Orchestra when he was 22 Love eventually became a bandleader himself, eventually becoming Motown’s West Coast house bandleader. Love toured the U.S. and Europe quite frequently into the 1990s, additionally lecturing and writing about the history that included him.
As an educational institution, the Loves Jazz & Arts Center features state of the art digital media equipment enabling us to teach the latest media and engage in innovative new initiatives. DFW Terminal D Clubs 1 & 5
Following work performed on Terminal D, McAfee3 Architects was assigned the Foreign Flag Carriers Airline Lounges under HKS’s contract. McAfee3 was commissioned to take 18,000 square feet of Terminal D, and turn it into five exclusive European-style clubs that would service 350 airline patrons a day. The work included programming, space planning, interior finish-out, design of casework, and FF&E. Each of the clubs, individually unique, serve a particular airline and contain a main lounge, a VIP Lounge, business centers, TV Lounge, restrooms, Children’s lounge, library, places to store luggage and kitchens. Also on the club floor, are private showers, conference rooms, a smoking lounge and exclusive artwork displayed throughout.
Spaces were planned based on need, function, and aesthetics. Finishes were selected with beauty, life-span, and maintenance in mind. Differing cultures were even considered in how the spaces worked together, furniture size and placement, and color selections.
McAfee3 scheduled a series of design charrettes to establish the initial design concepts with each carrier, presenting our ideas for approval. The end result was a fabulous group of airline lounges that continue to be the talk of the Airport. In 2013, we were asked to renovate the shell space of Club 1 & 5, which were completed in January 2015.

Federal Aviation Administration
Charles McAfee received a call from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Washington, D.C., to design facilities for computer centers for general aviation airports. In total, CFM designed over 75 FAA buildings for the FAA, based in Wichita, KS.
The Federal Aviation Administration proposed to construct new buildings for its Flight Service Station computer operations. The new buildings are to be energy-conscious designs, reducing the annual energy requirement per gross square foot area by 45% between 1975 and 1985.
The firm explored various solar energy systems and energy-efficient alternatives, providing information about energy system alternatives for the two proposed structures, as well as conceptual design studies incorporating the various energy systems. The design itself calls for a very flexible and modular system which contributes to better energy management and control.

DFW International Airport Integrated Operations Center
Alongside EXP, an excellent team was assembled that included McAfee3 providing the Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment Package and the Signage Package for this project. DFW-IOC is a 38,911 gross square foot single-story building. The building plan is organized with the most important spaces – the Shared Floor and EOC – in the center, with all related support spaces located around it. Through a series of stakeholder meetings, showroom visits, and information gathering sessions with the user group, we created a design profile and itemized schedule of furniture items for the Integrated Operations Center personnel. These selected items feature a contemporary design aesthetic aligned with the client’s aesthetic and met the durability requirements for a 24/7 work environment
